Happy Valentine's

To celebrate Valentine's Day Jim and I plus our good friends Allyson and Chris, who were also celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary, went to Asheville for the weekend. I found a lovely Bed & Breakfast in downtown Asheville - Chestnut Street Inn. The inn is a beautiful 1905 Colonial Revival home. It is one of the most distinctive, fully restored homes in Asheville. Its architectural charm and grace features interesting accents such as the original staircase with a "courting bench", ornate mantles, high ceilings and large outdoor porches. Friday night we went to a comedy show at the Diana Wortham theatre. Etta May was the comedian and she was hilarious. Her show was not filled with profanity and the stories she told were so true yet so funny!Saturday we woke up to the smell of coffee and bacon coming from the kitchen. We showered and walked downstairs to a wonderful three-course gourmet breakfast which included fruit, homemade bread, french toast, bacon, orange juice and coffee.
This is a couple photos of our room

Everyone needed a nap after enjoying this wonderful meal, but we went shopping instead. We checked out a few shops downtown and then hit our favorite shoe store where we found some great bargains. After a day of shopping we went back to our B&B for a nap, glass of wine and homemade cookies. That evening we had reservations at the Grove Park Inn. This was Jim and my first visit there and it was beautiful. The nights feature was "Prime Rib Buffet," it was amazing! I can't remember when I have eaten so much delicious food at one meal! We will definitely be coming back to this place! After our fabulous dinner and of course a little more shopping in their cute little shops, we went downstairs to the Piano Bar.

Sunday :( it was time to come home, but not without stopping at the Dillards Outlet! :) We spent a couple hours shopping and then drove back to the Tri-cities stopping for BBQ before coming on home.
This was a wonderful weekend spent with wonderful friends! Happy 18th Anniversary to Allyson and Chris and Happy Valentines Day to my sweet husband - I love you!

Valentines day as I was getting ready to leave for my Monday night class when these arrived! I have to say - this has been one of my best valentine's!
